The 2011 FX is available in two trims: the base FX35 and the FX50. The FX35 comes standard with rear-wheel drive; but has an available option of all-wheel drive. The FX50 is only available in all-wheel drive. The FX35 and FX35 AWD come standard with leather-appointed interior, Infiniti Intelligent Key with push button start and a rearview monitor. A power sliding tinted glass sunroof with tilt feature, sliding sunshade and one-touch open/close and dual-zone automatic temperature control system are also standard features on the FX35. The audio system is a Bose® 11-speaker premium system with AM/FM/CD with MP3 capabilities and speed-sensitive volume control. XM® satellite radio and Bluetooth® hands-free phone system are also featured on the FX35.
The FX50 model adds to the FX35 features with quilted leather appointed seating, climate-controlled front seats, navigation system, advanced climate control system and 9.3GB music storage. An advanced climate control system with auto recirculation and plasmacluster air purifier is also standard on the FX50. Outside mirrors with reverse tilt-down feature and aluminum roof rails are featured on the FX50 as well.
There are a number of individual options and packages available to add on to each of the FXs. The Premium Package available on the FX35 includes many of the FX50 standards including, XM NavTraffic® and XM NavWeather® as well as climate-controlled front seats and single in-dash CD/DVD player. The Deluxe Touring Package for the FX35 and FX50 upgrades the models with maple interior accents and aluminum pedals. The available Sport Package for the FX50 includes rear active steer, solid magnesium paddle shifts, sport style front seats with thigh support and dark-tinted side air vents and lower door trim. The Technology Package can be added to all FXs that are equipped with the Deluxe Touring Package and includes intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning system, intelligent brake assist with forward collision warning, rain-sensing windshield wipers and adaptive front lighting system with auto-leveling headlights.
Both 2011 FX35 models come standard with a 3.5-Liter 24-valve engine and the FX50 is equipped with a 5.0-Liter 32-valve, V8 engine. All Infiniti FX’s use electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control. The FX35 gets an EPA estimated 16 miles per gallon in the city and 23 on the highway; the FX35 AWD model gets an average of 16 miles in the city and 21 miles per gallon on the highway. The FX50 has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 miles per gallon on the highway.
A number of safety features come standard on all 2011 Infiniti FXs including dual-stage front supplemental airbags, driver and front-passenger side impact supplemental airbags, roof-mounted curtain side impact air bags with rollover sensor, and front-seat active head restraints. Brake assist, a 4-wheel anti-lock braking system, vehicle dynamic control, traction control and a tire pressure monitoring system are also standard safety features on all FX’s.
